Brecht's Hauspostille, written between 1916 and 1925, appeals to both emotion and intellect. Lars Eidinger, a talented actor, performs these poems, immersing himself in their essence. His readings capture the despair of the present and the love that makes it bearable. Accompanied by pianist Hans-Jörn Brandenburg, they create a captivating stage experience.

»The Hauspostille addresses the reader’s feeling and his intellect. It is recommended reading in times of raw natural forces and in hours of wealth, the consciousness of the flesh and of presumption. It is to be sung with the attack of harsh discords. Its motto is: In thanksgiving for the sun shining on them, things cast shadows.« These are the words in the instructions for the use of Bertolt Brecht’s Hauspostille. Bertolt Brecht wrote the poems in this collection between 1916 and 1925, and the title »Hauspostille« is a parodic allusion. »Eidinger not only reads Brecht’s poems – he immerses himself in them«.
